Today is a bit chilly don’t you find? What’s better than a great Italian meal on a windy not-so-warm day? I personally find Italian food so comforting and delicious. I will share my 5 favorite Italian restaurants in the Montreal area. Hoping it gives you ideas for the upcoming fall season and romantic outings with your significant other.

1. Vivaldi, Boulevard Gouin-Pierrefonds

This cute little restaurant is a bring your own wine, it has a great ambiance and their food is very good. They offer a nice variety of choice between Meats, Seafood, Coal fire Pizza and of course pasta. I usually order an appetizer of fried Calmar, they are crispy and YUMMY. I’m a huge pasta lover, so I will rarely order anything other on the menu, I like their Gnocchi Gorgonzola and their Tortellini la Contessa.

2. Artigiani, St-Denis-Montreal

This is a very cozy restaurant, it is located on the very busy St-Denis street, offers a very warm and inviting setting. The restaurant also has a very cute terace overlooking the street. The owner, Niko, is also very friendly and generous. They have amazing pizza; their dough is fluffy and baked to perfection. For starters DO NOT MISS the Arancini a la Romana simply WOW. Yes! I said I don’t usually order anything other than pasta but Artigiani’s pizza is simply too good, so I go with the MAMMA MIA or the FUNGHI. You also have the option to customize your own pizza.

Now let’s talk about dessert…..the Nutella pizza…need I say more?

3. Corneli, St-Laurent-Montreal

In the heart of Little Italy, this gem is simply perfect for a nice night out on the town. They have a lot of delicious choices, just entering this place and smelling the food cooking makes your mouth waters. I love their Calmars, which is a house specialty, golden and crisp. They also recently added a coal fire oven so I don’t need to give you details about their pizza…. Delicious. However if you stop by, you must try their Lasagna CASARECCIA, it is incredible, the best lasagna I’ve ever had. They have the same recipe since 1960. They also have a nice terrace in the heart of the action. Perfect for a romantic night or even a family dinner.

4. Trattoria Piatto Pieno, St-Zotique E-Montreal

You want to travel without actually leaving the city? This place is where you need to go. Their terrace is open all year long and is like a magical garden in the heart of Italy. Not only does this restaurant offers a great ambiance with a live band but it is also a bring your own wine. My recommendation for starter is the Melanzane alla Parmagiana, take note that their portions are very generous, so don’t go too crazy if you want to taste a bit of everything. For the main plate, I love their Romanov Penne, like I said the plate is big so I rarely finish it, I pack it and there you go, my lunch is ready for the next day.

* They just added a Valet service, so you don't have a reason not to go ;)
